What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is the practice of using medication to help patients relax during any type of dental procedure. Some patients experience anxiety from just getting a routine teeth cleaning, but others don’t experience it unless they have to have a major procedure completed. The reality is that dental anxiety is common, but sedation dentistry is available to help patients feel comfortable and confident visiting the oral surgeon so they can maintain good dental health.
Dr. Bryce Williams offers several methods of anesthesia and uses them according to the patient’s requests. Our number one priority is ensuring your safety and comfort, so feel free to ask us any question you have about anesthesia and sedation dentistry. The more information we know about your concerns and your health in general, the better we’ll be able to serve you and create the optimal results.
Methods of Anesthesia Available
The methods of anesthesia Dr. Williams offers include:
- Local Anesthetic – used mostly in simple oral procedures like single tooth extractions.
- Nitrous Oxide with Local Anesthetic – used mostly in simple procedures that require a little more involvement, like multiple extractions, wisdom teeth removal, dental implant placement and oral pathology appointments.
- Office-Based General Anesthesia with Local Anesthetic – used in wisdom teeth removal procedures and dental implant placements when local anesthesia is not effective
- Surgery Center or Hospital-Based General Anesthesia – used for more intense procedures like jaw and facial Also used for patients with a compromised medical history.
Why Do Patients Choose Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is used for many reasons. One of the most common reasons is to help control dental anxiety. With the different levels of anesthesia available, Centennial, Aurora, and Denver Metro area patients can choose to be awake and in a relaxed state, be completely unconscious, or somewhere in between. Dr. Williams will only administer anesthesia that you decide upon.
Dental Anxiety is Real, But So Are Results
Some patients have dental anxiety, and they don’t even know it. If you intentionally ignore your dental health, it could be because you have a certain anxiety level about visiting your dentist or oral surgeon. At Dr. Williams’ office, we work Centennial, Aurora, and Denver Metro area patients on a daily basis to help alleviate any concerns they may have. Instead of focusing on those matters, we focus on real results that can be seen.
When Centennial, Aurora, and Denver Metro area patients visit our office, they are often unhappy about their dental health or current dental situation. Sedation dentistry is often the recommended option for patients because they can get the results they desire without having to feel uncomfortable during the process.
Trust Professionals Like Dr. Williams
Not just anyone is allowed to administer anesthesia or practice sedation dentistry. An oral surgeon has to go through an intense three-month hospital-based anesthesia training program to provide the service in their office. And once the training is completed, the surgeon is evaluated by a state dental board examiner throughout an entire procedure before being granted permission to provide anesthesia.
Dr. Williams earns his patients’ trust by showing that he cares about them. He’s completed the necessary state qualifications to provide outstanding service for his patients, and those he has treated in the past know how Dr. Williams can help anyone facing a dental dilemma. He’d love to have the same opportunity to serve you and your family.

What many people don’t know about Dr. Williams is he suffered facial trauma at a young age and underwent extensive surgeries to replace missing teeth and repair broken teeth.
